What are alarm symptoms, and why are they important?

- Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool.

What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for IBS?

What is Gut-Directed Hypnosis?
Gut-Directed Hypnosis is a therapeutic technique that uses focused relaxation and guided imagery to improve the communication between your gut and brain. Research has shown that it can significantly reduce IBS symptoms, with many clients experiencing a 50% or greater reduction in symptoms after a series of sessions.
Will I lose control during hypnosis and is it safe?
No, you will not lose control. Hypnosis is a state of focused relaxation, and you remain fully aware and in control throughout the session. You can stop the session at any time if you choose. Hypnosis is a safe and natural state of relaxation. It has been used in clinical settings for decades to address various conditions, including IBS. There are no known harmful side effects when performed by a qualified practitioner.
Does hypnosis work for everyone?
While Gut-Directed Hypnosis is highly effective for many individuals with IBS, results may vary. Research indicates that about 75% of people experience significant symptom improvement. We assess your needs during the initial consultation to ensure hypnosis is a good fit for you.
Is Gut-Directed Hypnosis the same as stage hypnosis?
Not at all. Unlike stage hypnosis, which is designed for entertainment, Gut-Directed Hypnosis is a clinically proven therapeutic tool. It is focused on relaxation, guided imagery, and addressing the gut-brain connection to improve symptoms.
Can hypnosis cure IBS?
Hypnosis is not a cure for IBS, but it is a highly effective tool for managing symptoms and improving quality of life. It addresses the gut-brain connection, which plays a key role in IBS symptoms, and can lead to significant, lasting improvements.
How can mindfulness help with IBS?
Mindfulness is a powerful tool for managing IBS symptoms. By focusing on the present moment with non-judgmental awareness, mindfulness can help reduce stress, ease anxiety, and improve the gut-brain connection. Techniques such as mindful breathing, body scans, and guided meditations can complement therapies like CBT and Gut-Directed Hypnosis, enhancing your overall treatment outcomes.
How long does treatment take?
The duration of treatment varies depending on your needs and goals. Typically:
- CBT for IBS involves 8-10 sessions.
- Gut-Directed Hypnosis usually requires 8-12 sessions.
We’ll discuss a realistic timeline during your initial assessment.
